Madison Park

There were plenty of winter hats and sunglasses in view as my husband and I took a 4.8 miles walk through Madison Park, yesterday.

This upscale residential neighborhood has a busy commercial area along E Madison Street. Lots of small businesses (restaurants and pubs, supermarket, ice cream shop, bakery, florist shop, pharmacy, dry cleaners, professional offices, fitness center, nursery, etc.) plus a Starbuck's and a Tully's.

This neighborhood is sandwiched in between Broadmoor Golf Course and Lake Washington. Lots are small but streets have sidewalks and curbs. Most of the older homes are small but well kept. Some newer or remodeled homes are larger and all are expensive.

This area is home to McGilva Elementary, two parks with a bathing beach, tennis courts and playgrounds,

the Samuel Hyde House whose sign indicates that it is now the Consulate of the Russian Federation,

and a phone booth with a dial phone inside.

Another tidy Seattle neighborhood with great views and lots of trees.
