Today's walk took my husband and me to the area surrounding Jefferson Park Golf Course. We walked 4.3 miles, largely on gravel paths with views of the course.
Cheasty Blvd S took us along a lovely, tree-lined street overlooking a ravine in some areas. We spotted neat homes, some with lake and mountain views.
Along 24th Place S, we saw well maintained homes and gardens
and an Alley Catacres Community Garden. (Alley Catacres is an urban farming collective that creates community-run gardens in under utilized urban spaces. )
Walking south along Beacon Avenue S, we passed Fire Station 13 with its beautiful red doors,
the Jefferson Community Center
and the Jefferson Park Club House and Restaurant as well as putting greens, a driving range, playgrounds and tennis courts.
As we approached S Columbian Way, we were impressed with the building and grounds of Veterans Hospital (VA Puget Sound Health Care System Seattle Division).
The area near Columbian Way is home to the Seattle Presbytery,
the Church of God in Seattle (which is next door to the Hong Kong Driving School),
Seattle Super Market,
Foulee Market & Deli (specializing in Asian products),
Iglesia de Restauracion (Presbyterian),
Asa Mercer Middle School
and Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church. I suspect that the two Presbyterian churches and the Presbytery are related.
We spotted a storm water drain that looked as if it could soon use some cleaning
and ended our walk at MacPherson's where we purchased four bags of reasonably priced produce and fruit, making today's walk especially rewarding.
