Western Bryant

Today, my husband and I took a 6.2 mile walk through the lovely Bryant neighborhood. We walked most of the street from NE 60th to NE 68th Street from 25th to 35th Avenue NE plus NE 65th Street west to 23rd Avenue NE.

The streets south of 65th felt almost like a scaled down version of some Capitol Hill streets with smaller but distinctive homes and lovely gardens. The tree-lined streets have sidewalks and curbs and there is tidy feel to most of the neighborhood.

Many of the homes north of 65th appear to be newer and on larger lots but lack the architectural detail of the older homes.

35th and 65th are the commercial areas and 25th has some newer condo-type homes. This area is home to Assumption Church and Assumption Saint Bridget School, the Children's Home Society, Sunflower Bakery and Cafe and Casa D'Italia Market and Cafe. Bryant Elementary and the Northeast Library are also here but they were covered in an earlier post.

The gardens alone would have been enough to make this a really enjoyable walk. We saw a few people out gardening and stopped to chat with one man and admire his Prairie Fire Crab Apple Trees.
