Discovery Park

Today's walk did not include any city streets and did not go through any neighborhoods. Today, my husband, daughter and I took a 5.5 mile walk in Discovery Park in the Magnolia area.

We took the Loop Trail to the South Beach Trail, then walked along the beach to the lighthouse. From there, we walked to the North Beach Trail and back to the Loop Trail.

Our walk took us down to the beach and the tide was out so we were able to look back at the cliffs and note the different types of soil. We had read about the geology of the area and it was good to see the stratification for ourselves.

We were enchanted by a bald eagle flying over us and by the beautiful vistas. We could see Shilshole Bay Marina in Ballard and what appeared to be a regatta of small sailboats.

It was a pretty nice walk for a cloudy Sunday afternoon.
